When reproductive cells cannot be retrieved from one or both partners, the use of anonymous donors’ cells or embryos available for adoption is a treatment option.

‘Our Chance – IVF With Donor Eggs’ Programme

The programme aims at comprehensive care for couples that will benefit from eggs stored in the bank of Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo during the in vitro procedure.

The cells stored in the bank of Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo originate from women who decided to anonymously donate a number of eggs during their own IVF treatment. A potential donor must be below 35 years old, have no medical contraindications to donation other than for her own purposes and donate at least 4 mature eggs. Donors have a full set of virology tests and additional genetic testing (CFTR) performed.

The programme involves a full treatment cycle: from its beginning until the last embryo is used.

The programme includes:

  • Gynaecological consultations with ultrasound scan
  • Monitoring of hormone levels (oestradiol, progesterone, HCG) from the cycle beginning up to the end of the programme (confirmed clinical pregnancy or the last embryo used)
  • Psychological care throughout the whole process
  • Virology testing: HIV, HCV, HBsAg (nucleic acid amplification technology)
  • Phenotype-based oocyte selecting, thawing and using the eggs from the bank of Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo in accordance with legal requirements (the Act of 25 June 2015 on Infertility Treatment [Journal of Laws of 31 July 2015, item 1087] as well as the relevant Regulations of the Minister of Health)
  • In vitro fertilisation: IVF/ICSI
  • Embryo culture<0}
  • Freezing and storing embryos throughout the first year from the freezing date
  • Transfers of fresh and frozen embryos
  • Verification of the HCG levels after the embryo transfers

What is not included in the programme?

  • Tests and consultations required for assessment of eligibility for in vitro fertilisation
  • Medications to prepare for embryo transfer, luteal supplementation
  • Additional technologies in the in vitro procedure that can increase its effectiveness in certain situations but are not necessary:
    • IMSI
    • AH
    • Primo Vision
    • EmbryoGlue
  • Cost of embryo storage beyond the first year

Use of donor sperm

Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo cooperates with European Sperm Bank. Donor materials from European Sperm Bank are stored in the bank of Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo to allow selection of a donor with required phenotypic traits (appearance). When the phenotype-based selection of a donor is approved by the doctor, the donor material is reserved (free-of-charge) for the treatment of a particular couple and then used for insemination or in vitro fertilisation.

When the phenotypic traits of the donors from Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo and of the treated couple do not match, donor semen can be selected and delivered directly from European Sperm Bank europeanspermbank.com

Embryo adoption

The programme aims at comprehensive care for couples who have decided on embryo adoption.

Embryos are donated for adoption by couples who have completed successful treatment and do not plan to have more children or decided to donate embryos for other reasons.

The embryo adoption programme includes:

  • Gynaecological consultations with ultrasound scan
  • Monitoring of hormone levels (oestradiol, progesterone, HCG) from the cycle beginning until the end of the programme (embryo transfer)
  • Psychological care throughout the whole process
  • Virology testing: HIV, HCV, HBsAg (nucleic acid amplification technology)
  • Phenotype-based selecting, thawing and using the embryos delivered for adoption from the bank of Centrum Medyczne Macierzyństwo in accordance with legal requirements (the Act of 25 June 2015 on Infertility Treatment [Journal of Laws of 31 July 2015, item 1087] as well as the relevant Regulations of the Minister of Health)
  • Assisted Hatching (AH)
  • Transfer of embryo(s)
  • Verification of the HCG levels after the embryo transfer

What is not included in the programme?

  • Tests and consultations required for assessment of eligibility for the procedure
  • Medications to prepare for embryo transfer, luteal supplementation
